This
page is dedicated to the hobby of radio in the 50Mhz /6M band.
The
frequency 50Mhz is a little to high to have worldwide communication
normaly..
The
strange thing is that some radio-amateurs are trying do
this anyway.
This
relative high frequency needs high
solar activity to
make worldwide communication possible
The worldwide meetingpoint of “50MHz” freaks :

Since june finaly a new dxcc for me.
Weak opening but fb operators!
http://www.8q7zz.com/
And finally at the end of June a new DXCC came on the air.
FS/W6JKV Jimmy on expedition to
On 50.1036 in cw around 2051ut (qso) till 2100 with a real good signal peaking
599! Easy to work after I found that he listened a khz higher.
The first signal from the
Strange FS/W6JKV was the only (dx) signal from there.
Could not hear PJ2MI when he was working him.
arrgggg again 1 hour after
D2EB dropped down in the noise from a good 59 signal. TN3B came on the band
… only to work south EU as
usual.
From about the same part of Africa, D2EB in JI73 was workable several days around 1700 utc with good signals.I do not know the reasons why TN3B started a couple of hours to late for us every day.
Another thing that puzzles me: why would an announced DX station or expedition pick
50.110 as working frequency?? Or even make schedules at 50.110 ??
And stay there to work split 50.110 rx up 25kc…
Or even worse TX at 50.120 and rx down 10 !! this really happened few times in the past.
Some operators do not need to work split-freq at all not even in pileup situations.
Others start right away to operate split even with a few callers.. as if they where operating from south-shetland on 28Mc.
Heard
him for the first time
Last

Cycle
23 in JO33 Epilogue:
Pffff
it’s (almost?) done cycle 23. No more nervous about leaving the rig and miss
the only opening.. finally time to
enjoy a normal breakfast in the weekends.
50MHz is too demanding especially for N-EU Never convenient dx times primetime always in the middle of the (working) day. Never evening/night openings it is just asking to much.
Solar Cycle 23
was, at the end a very good one. Many new DXCC heard and worked for the first
time.
But
the quality of propagation to east in cycle 22 was better then we had
JA-pileups with 100W/6ele plus VK3 and KG6DX
worked.
In
cy23 only 1kW+ stations could raise weak pileups from JA.
KH2JU
heard 2minutes only.
People
that say: life
is to short for low power proved
to be right
but I
would almost say: Life is to short for
50Mhz!
Here
is a Funny but true analysis of Sixmeter
@ UKSMG
I did not
really miss anything special by not using 1Kw except maybe XV3AA.
And
calling cq for W6/7 and JA with 150W is useless of coarse.
No I
think the Dx I missed would have been easy to work with my set-up if only my
timing was perfect and 50Mhz did like the weekends a bit more.
This
was the cycle for 7day/week qrv hams and they could take a rest in the
weekends!
In
JOx3 50MHz long-path
seems to be impossible?
It was
at first hard to believe for me that a signal from Hawaii coming all the way
over the south-east 18000+ km can not make the last 300-1000km but it is true.
The
position in JO33 is good for high score dxcc since we seem to be in the middle
of activity. On the other hand we are to west for ZL ? and to east for W6? to north for evening openings to
SA and Long-path.And to south for working over the north-pole to mid-west-USA.
Also
most openings end up in nohamland.
VK6RSX/B
copied almost on daily basis without hearing anything else except Bill VK6JQ...
Still
no HL or BV worked in EU! unbelievable in respect with al openings to JA and
VR2
Will
there be serious dx activity in HL or BV next cycle 24??
To the
caribean extreme good openings: XE YS HP TI TG HR CO KP4 KP2 C6 FM5 FG FY P4 PJ
YV HK HC HC8 some 9+ over several days. J3 J6 J8 VP2M
could have been easy but not QRV.
And
big USA VE openings finally DM and DN field worked.
BG7OH
,5U6W,V73AT,9U5D,A71MA,VK3
were exclusive workable in the middle of the working week. Even
long weekends where not long enough.
But
9U5D could be worked 9U5D in cw KI46 Thursday 22 Feb 2002 11:00ut .
BG7OH
and V73AT only 1 possibility on a Monday morning this cycle.
What a
difference compared to S-EU with cluster spots like V73AT 599 cq no takers..
