Note! Due to Christmas there will not be any December section of NAC.
Mongolia, JT. The Potomac Valley Radio Club (PVRC) held its annual
Christmas dinner Monday night in Tyson's Corner, Virginia, with 60some
contesters and DXers attending. K4ZW and K4YT, Ken Claerbout and Karl
Renz, gave the after-dinner "Power Point" presentation, on their two
trips to JT1CO's QTH 25 miles north of Ulanbaatar, Mongolia. It was a
very well done and interesting presentation and we recommend it for DX
club meetings and DX conventions. Many of the JT operators were shown
as they helped on the antenna improvement projects that Ken and Karl
worked on. JT1CO's QTH is impressive. He has a modern home and life-
style that any westerner would be comfortable with. A large crankup
trolley device on Chak's homebrew square tower was described by one
audience member as "a Mongolian Hazer." Primary antennas are a Hy-Gain
TH-11 and a 6M beam that Ken put up and an almost-90-foot-tall alu-
minum vertical for 160, 80 and 40. Ken, operating as JT1/K4ZW, concen-
trated his efforts on the low bands with several hundred QSOs on each,
followed by 2,800 QSOs in a part-time (36 hours) CQWW operation. Ken
says the primary purpose of the trip was to put up the vertical and
operate the low bands, so by the time CQWW came he wasn't rested enough
to put in a fulltime effort.(QSP de The Daily DX #235).
North Africa tour. Cancelled. Georges F8OP, QSP's; Rally Paris-Dakar
2003, from 01.01.2003 to 19.01.2003. The TM4DX expedition is cancelled.
The main thing is a lack of sponsors. The F5PNI web site is definitely
closed. Jean-Gabriel does everything possible to realize this expedi-
tion, but unfortunately, many problems happened. He is very sorry and
makes one's apologies to the ham's community. Georges F8OP.
Sierra Leone, 9L. A QSP from Wolfgang DJ3TK says; 9L1AB - Sierra Leone.
G3AB arrived back in the UK on 6 December after 26 days activity
(single op) from Freetown, Sierra Leone as 9L1AB. 40362 QSOs were log-
ged on CW/SSB/RTTY on all bands 6m - 160m with 959 QSOs on 6m and 1265
QSOs on 160m. Only dipole and inverted L antennas were used. A full
report with statistics and photos will appear on the website soon.

shire HG4 1UA UK. Thanks for the fun pile ups! 73, Andy-G3AB.

ference: This is the first call for technical papers for the SVHFS con-
ference to be held in Huntsville, Alabama, on April 25-26. The deadline
