General information

   Svalbard, JW. Logs for JW4X (273 6m QSOs with 18 DXCC entities), as
well as information, pics etc. of JW8AJA and JW5QFA's recent activity
from Svalbard, are now available at http://www.qsl.net/la8aja (QSP de

Niger, 5U. Update. The tickets for the trip from Feb 3-18 were bought
and any requests for special modes and bands can be posted to their
internet site http://www.qsl.net/niger-2002. Seven operators will
operate with three stations simulateously in SSB/CW/RTTY and PSK31 on
6-160m. (QSP de DXNL 1278)

E. Malaysia, 9M. 9M9/JA8CCL will operate from E. Malaysia on HF and
six meters from Jan 31 to Feb 3, 2002. QSL to home call. (QSP de SMIRK)

Cambodia, XU & Laos, XW. ES1FB, informs OPDX that he will be active as
XU7ACE January 27th for 2 weeks. He plans to be on 80-6 meters, mostly
SSB, and some CW. Also, he will be going to Laos (XW), for 3-4 days.
Dates and callsign are not known yet. QSL via ES1FB. (QSP de OPDX #546)

Temotu, H40. During the period from March 28th through April 12th,
Nick, VK1AA, will be organizing a DXpedition to Temotu Province. The
team will be active in CQ WPX Contest as Multi/Single and will be ac-
tive on all amateur bands from 160-6 meters, all modes. The team con-
sists of VK1AA, YT6A and probably YT6T. They are still looking for a
few good CW/SSB OPs, well experienced, and ready to join team to do
their best to contribute to the final goals of the DXpedition. You can

There will be a get-together party on Friday night and a dinner on
Saturday

St. Lucia, J68AS. I will be heading back to St. Lucia for the SSB WPX
contest and plan to be active on 6 meters. Will arrive on March 21 and
hope to be QRV by March 22. Will be QRT on April 2. Will avoid the 10
meter net, as it really left a bad taste in my mouth from my Y2K trip.
The site has over-water views to the US and Europe from about 120M ASL
Here is hoping conditions keep on hanging in there. QSL to my home call

Virgin Isl., KP2. I will be visiting the US Virgin Islands to operate
in an HF contest at the end of March this year. I was thinking about
interesting bands or modes to operate outside of the contest, and 6m
came to mind. The location is on a 1,000 ft hilltop with an unobstruc-
ted view of ocean toward JA, US, and EU. I might be operating an amp-
lifier capable of 1000W on 6m. I would need to purchase and construct
an antenna (perhaps a 5-el yagi). Unfortunately, I am not very fami-
liar with 6m, and don't know whether an operation like this would be
of interest to the 6m community. How good is propagation typically in
late March/early April in this point of the sunspot cycle from the
Caribbean to EU and US? Is KP2 common on 6m? Before I purchase 6m
equipment for the trip, I just wanted to find out from experienced 6m
operators whether this sounds like a worthwhile effort or a waste of
