Dr. Karl-Heinz Ilg, DK2WV, will once again be active from here this time with a team of operators. Karl informs OPDX that in June this year, during his stay in Sierra Leone, he not only operated as 9L0W, but had the honor of speaking to the President of the University of Freetown. He was asked if he (and others) could conduct a course in Amateur Radio. In October and November this year Karl and his team will volunteer to help in the planning of the technical promotion and conduct training courses for those who are interested in Amateur Radio. Further-more, Karl will also present the university with materials and radio equipment. All training and activity is plannned to take place in the time frame of October 21st to November 11th, 2008. They expect to operate during this time under the same callsign, 9L0W. The German participants mentioned are Roland/DJ4LK, Franz/DJ9ZB, Karl/DK2WV, Hans/DL1YFF and one 9L1 national. He has the callsign T61AA. He was on 20 SSB for as much as an hour a day recently from his QTH in Faizabad. Ross has previously operated as VK1UN, VK8UN, 4W6UN and EX1UN. Ross will be there for up to two years and is equipped with a Tokyo Hi-Power amp for HF and 6 and a new Acom for HF and 6, a 2x8 element on two but he plans to add to it when the weather cooperates. August 20, 2008 is the date F8FQX (ex 5T5SN), Nicolas Sinieokoff,
is departing for Brazzaville, Congo (TN). He will be there for some
three to four years. Nicolas has applied for the callsign TN5SN
and hopes to have receipt of it in the near future. He hopes to
be QRV on the HF bands in October or November of this year. "In
Brazzaville, there is a lot of electricity problem(s)", say
Nicolas. He will begin activity after the station is totally protected". Once
completely ready to operate look for activity from Nicolas on CW,
