An extensive repository of the latest DosAPRS maps is maintained at http://www.projectx.com.
Here are some high detail maps by Gerry Paquette (VE2AW). These maps can only be used with WinAPRS or MacAPRS and will not work with DOSAPRS. The uncompressed files are quite large, so the faster the computer, the better the results. Thankyou Gerry. Check Gerry's site for new maps.

These are street detail maps by Rob (VE3ADJ). These maps are for use with WinAPRS or MacAPRS. They work well with WinAPRS 243 overlay capability. Thankyou Rob.

Following are some street level maps by Rob (ve3adj@rac.ca). These maps can only be used with WinAPRS or MacAPRS and will not work with DOSAPRS. When you unzip the file, you will find 2 more files: one with a gif extension, and one a geo extension. To use the map, you must place both the gif and the geo in the WinAPRS IMAGES directory.
The gif image and a regular map can work together in a very interesting way. Using our sontc3 map and the gif image of Carleton Place, as an example, here's how you do it: After starting WinAPRS, go to the IMAGES directory, and you should see the Carleton Place gif image listed there. Click on it and use it like any other map. It will zoom up and down etc., but has a very definate range of readability. Now, go to the MAPS directory and click on the sontc3 map. If everything is working correctly, you should have the map of Southern Ontario, with a correctly placed gif image of Carleton Place imposed on it. The whole thing works beautifully. Try it!
The size of an image is limited by memory. Note that these files can get quite large. Most do not cover as large an area, nor do they have the same detail as produced by Gerry (VE2AW), but they 'do' have the street names. Thankyou Rob!
The Ottawa-Hull map is interesting because it is from a higher perspective (2500 feet vs 1000 feet). It covers a much larger area than the Ottawa map, and has fewer street names.
Be sure to check Rob's tips on using WinAPRS/MacAPRS on our MISC page.

1globe is a polar map on WinAPRS/MacAPRS, which doubles as World Map. Counties.zip is for CANWARN County warnings, unzip Counties to WinAPRS\counties\on.
Enhanced DOS maps used for WinAPRS work best with a system colour setting of 16 bit colour (i.e. high colour). If set to 256 colours and using SONTxCx.map a yellow boundry line will appear in lake Ontario. It's normal to see the yellow boundry line when SONTC is overlayed with a gif image map. Most of these maps work best with WinAPRS release 232 and newer, and provide a new look for 400 series highways, etc.

Visual GPS is a bit of a long download but it may be worth it for you. It makes your PC or laptop work as a display for your GPS20 or other GPS which does not normally have a display. The program will display the drift in the GPS signal and will allow you to improve your precision in determining a location's co-ordinates. The program is extremely helpful in debugging and testing GPS units. Its freeware. Visual GPS.
