Ottawa Region APRS Group

About Us

ORAG is a very loosely organized group of amateur radio operators in the general vicinity of the nation's capital, Ottawa, Canada, who are interested in the Automated Packet Reporting System or APRS. Many of us have APRS equipment on the air on 144.39 Mhz (simplex).

The primary digipeater for APRS in this area is VE3MPC located near the intersection of Montreal Rd. and St.Laurent. The VE3MPC digipeater is administered by Norm (VE3LC). Many in the Ottawa area can also hear VE3PGC, the digipeater near Cornwall, Ontario, either directly or via VE3MPC. West, near Brockville, the digipeater VE3BAT provides good coverage along Hwy 401. A recent new digi in Bancroft, VA3FOY, greatly improves the coverage between Ottawa and Toronto. VE3BAT and VE3PGC are administered by Eric (VE3EI).

VE3RC provides a TCP/IP connection to the internet site at http://www.aprs.net. This connection allows anyone to view Ottawa APRS stations via the internet, and also allows the Ottawa APRS stations to see other stations from outside the Ottawa area. The VE3RC link to the internet is courtesy of Rick (VE3UNW).

The ORAG web pages are maintained by me, Rick Bandla, VE3CVG/VA3RCB, when I have time. This site uses very basic html script and a minimum of frills in the interest of keeping pages loading as quickly as possible. The main site is made available by Al Waller, K3TKJ, at no charge. Mirrored sites are provided by IGS and by Rick VE3UNW (see links on home page). There is no commercial intent in these pages, except to promote APRS and Amateur Radio.
