The Overland Park Amateur Radio Club (OPARC) is comprised of Amateur Radio Operators that are usually affiliated with, but definitely not limited to, Sprint (Sprint LD, Sprint PCS etc.) and usually live in or somewhere around Overland Park, Kansas. Its members are crazy enough to want to have a hobby that is closely related to their work. We are not a regimented club in any way, but a group that enjoys ham radio, the different facets that it has to offer and, of course, having FUN!!! OPARC operates the 443.65Ø MHz repeater in Raytown, Missouri formally owned by Tim Mitchell, KA5RYF (SK). Tim was a founding member of the OPARC and a good friend...

Some activities we get ourselves into include Field Day, Repeater Operation/ maintenance, APRS, satellite operation, VHF Contesting, HF Operation, antenna construction/ design, and trying out new modes of operation. A majority of our members are also members of the Johnson County ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services) group and the Johnson County ECS (Emergency Communications Service) group, who provides weather spotting information to the National Weather Service when severe weather threatens Johnson County.

Field Day

(A note from the President)

On June 23 - 24, 2001 OPARC joined the Northeast Kansas ARC and Sunflower Interlink for Field Day activities located near Perry Lake. A BIG Thank You goes out to all that came out to the site and participated!!! This year was not only full of hot weather, sunburn, chiggers, ticks, and dry weather (huh???), it was as usual, a blast!

OPARC showed up with a satellite station and successfully made three contacts! We had up-link antenna issues that were not foreseen, but David (KYØDR) trudged on and successfully got the call KØHAM on F0-20 and FO-29!!! Pictures, taken by KYØDR, can be seen here.
