What it's All About

The Sport
Transmitter hunting is the sport of locating radio transmitters that have been surreptitiously concealed in unlikely locations. The crafty antics of those who hide the transmitters have given this activity its nickname fox hunting. The thrill of the hunt, and the satisfaction of the find, make fox hunting fun and addictive.

This Web Site

This web site is devoted to transmitter hunting in the North Carolina Piedmont. Here you will find information on transmitter hunts of all sorts: drive-to, hike-to, urban, rural, sporting, and public service. If it is taking place in Central North Carolina, and it involves locating transmitters, you will find it here.

If you are planning a transmitter hunting activity, or if you hear about a hunt that isn't mentioned on the Local Fox Hunt Schedule page, please let everyone know about it.

Piedmont Transmitter Tracking

Piedmont Transmitter Tracking (PTT) is not a club or organization. There is no membership list, no meetings, and no dues. PTT is a web site, and an associated e-mail mailing list. PTT is a para-club resource for individuals and groups interested in promoting transmitter hunting in the State of North Carolina. As such, PTT does not sponsor transmitter hunts. Rather, PTT encourages and supports transmitter hunting by disseminating information regarding regional transmitter hunting events, and other information useful to individuals who participate in the sport.
