Lower Columbia Amateur Radio Association
Minutes of the 5/3/06 Membership Meeting

Call to Order:
President Wally called the meeting to order.

There were 12 in attendance.

Pledge of Allegiance:
The Pledge of Allegiance was made by all.

Reading of the Minutes:
Minutes of April 19th were deferred to the next meeting.

Officers’ Reports -- Treasurer:
No report as it was too early in the month for a bank statement.

Correspondence:
We received a PUD bill for $81.63 (going down) and a QSL card from VB3CNX.

Board of Directors’ Report:
Brian KJ7OX states the new repeater is here—the next step is to tune it up.

Old Business:
An inquiry was made about purchasing an antenna from KB6KQ. The answer was that it would have to be a future purchase, as we do not have the room right now.

Field Day is June 23-25, 2006—more to come at next meeting on May 17th.

New Business:
Steve K7SDH asked about the tone on the repeater and why there was one. Much discussion ensued, and it was brought to light that it was necessary due to interference from other repeaters. There has been a precedence set.

Steve also mentioned that people should clean up after themselves and empty the trash when it’s full. Discussion took place, and it was decided that there would be a cleanup party on Sunday May 7th at the shack.

It was mentioned the VHF/UHF antennas were tested and good SWR was found on 220, 440, and 900MHz, but not on 1.2GHz. These antennas are now sturdier, thanks to Bob KB7ADO and Brian KJ7OX. Jim Fisher will be contacted in the future about adding a new antenna.

Good of the Order:
Brian was able to test the refurbished amplifier and made contact with 9K2GS-Kuwait-before the meeting.

Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted:

Mike—AD7HN,
Vice-President and Acting Secretary
