The Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service was created to supplement local and state governments with all volunteer communications resources for disaster response and civil defense. Lincoln County RACES is an organization of amateur radio operators who volunteer their time and equipment to support Lincoln County, North Carolina Emergency Services whenever traditional communications services are temporarily disabled or additional resources are needed.
