The ARES of Jackson County was reorganized under the direction of Ronald Rearick, AD4XV, in the fall of 1998. Ron is the Emergency Coordinator for Jackson County which is part of the ARRL Section 15. Since that time it has been enrolling numerous active members. The members are also involved with the SKYWARN program, which falls under the ARES, and have been provided with training from the National Weather Service from Greenville-Spartanburg. Most of its members are certified Weather Spotters and some are trained traffic handlers.
