NEWSWORTHY NOTES
August 2003
The meeting was called to order by Vice President John Coleman, KF4QDS. The highlights are as follows: The Field Day report has been mailed to ARRL HQ. The results were very good this year! We had a lot of fun and a pretty good score! Good Job! Today was the Bike-A-Thon at The Red Cross. As always, you did a superb job handling the traffic for the event! We were joined this year by KB1G, William Boyes; KE4IAF, Dave Collins; WA2RFN, Mary Weeman; AA40 Carl Brown......Many thanks to all of you who stepped up to make this a successful event! Special Dates To Remember!!!!!! 8/16/03 Special Event at the clubhouse: 5th Yr. anniversary and salute to the Silent Keys..... 9/13/03 Special Event at the clubhouse: Thomas Built Bus. 10/18/03 Special Event at Randleman for NASCAR Days...... The program today was a demo on 60 Meter channels and the use of the Logging Program! How easy it is to build a 60 meter di-pole!!!!! Annoucements ::: VE test sessions Thomasville Library Sat 09/20/03 Contract Ruby Byrd KF4NI for details.... Route 66 On the Air will be in September see www.qsl.net/w6jtb for details.....This event has always been a lot of fun..... It seems the summer is almost over already. Where does the time go? The Shelby Hamfest is coming up. It won't be long before Thanksgiving then Christmas..... Don't be like a lot of people today. You know there are only three (3) kinds. 1: Watch it happen.. 2: Wonder what happened....... 3: Make it happen........Which are you?

THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER BY JOHN COLEMAN, KF4QDS, VICE PRESIDENT. PRESIDENT JOHN WAS ON VACATION.... THE HIGHLIGHTS FOLLOWS: TODAY IS JULY 5, 2003.............. A REPORT WAS GIVEN ON FIELD DAY, THE TOTAL RESULTS ARE NOT CALCULATED YET BY A GENERAL REPORT WAS GIVEN........A SPECIAL THANKS TO THE RED CROSS FOR THE USE OF THEIR FACILITIES AND THEIR SUPPORT TO MAKE A SUCCESSFUL FIELD DAY. THE HIGHLIGHT WAS THE SUPPER MEAL ON SaTurday. we had our traditional t-bone steaks with all the trimmings. sorry john covington had to leave before they were ready. special dates for your calendaR::::: 1. 7/29/03 meeting to plan the red cross bike-a-thon @ 7:00 red cross all operators..... 2. 8/2/03 red cross bike-a-thon all operators report for duty! 3. 8/16/03 special event @ clubhouse 5TH anniversary and honor silent keys. 4. 9/13/03 special event @ clubhouse for thomas bulit buses. 5 10/18/03 special event @ randleman nascar days.............. DON'T FORGET THE 60 METER BAND & THE RULES THAT GO WITH IT. BE SURE TO READ THE ARRL BULLETIN. JULY 19 & 20 THE MUSEUM SHIPS ARE ON THE AIR. GOOD FUN TO LOCATE AND WORK THE SHIPS. STUDY THE E-MAIL SENT TO YOU ON JULY 4 FOR THE STATIONS AND FREQ. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO ALL AND I WILL LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT THE BIKE-A-THON. IT'S REALLY A LOT OF FUN, AS WELL AS A GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY.
