Aurora 2003 and Antenna building:

This page has some pictures and such on the Aurora 2003 conference and a small antenna party a bunch of us had this spring. First off, the Aurora conference is a weak signal VHF and up based event...for more information on it and the group that holds it go to the NLRS link on this site. They usually hold a antenna test range for 2 meters and above in the morning. There were also noise figure testing and a small swapmeet. There were various talks given about misc. projects and ideas. For example, Charlie (N0AKC) gave a talk on sequencers and Bill (K0AWU) gave a talk on Amplifiers, among many others.

I learned a lot, and met a whole lot of new people, got a whole lot of ideas, and had one of my antennas tested out. Prior to Aurora, we had a small antenna building party at Charlie's house. We ended up tuning a few homebrew antennas and constructing a few commercial and homebrew antennas for the VHF and up bands. Below are a few of the pictures from these events...and one bonus picture of KB9PJL pretending to be Frank Zappa.

Again the pics are numbered and explained below.

1. 2. 3. 4.

7. Me....doing the drill press work.
8. KB9PJL apparently in Summer Style...either that or he spent too much time on 6 meters the night before and he fell asleep with Frank Zappa going through his head.
