Receiver Hitch Antenna Mount

In preparation for Summer PortaVentures and ARRL Field Day K9WAV Steve and I have been brainstorming ways to provide a solid support for 30, 40, or 50 foot push-up poles. Here are some photos of the work in progress...

My structural and RF expert is Marley...

For real deployment we plan to use a metal pushup pole. Here I have a 20 foot fiberglass fishing pole in place to illustrate the setup...

Here are two closeups of the bracket itself. No paint at this point. There will no doubt be further refinements as things progress...

[Update: July 7, 2003] We were extremely happy with the mounting system this past Field Day. We used it on the back of Steve's truck along with a 30 foot push up pole to support a W3FF Buddipole tuned for 15 Meters.

We were operating at the Sangamon Valley Radio Club's 2003 Field Day effort.
