Welcome to N8YP's website

Hello and welcome to my website.  My name is Jeremy Reese, my callsign is N8YP and have been licensed since August of 2000.  I became interested in getting a ham license to allow having my scanner in my vehicle both in Michigan and in Minnesota.  Being a railfan (railroad enthusiest), I needed the radio in the car to know where trains were located at, thus the scanner.

After reading "Now You're Talking" and seeing the different aspects of what can be done with radio, I was hooked.  Planning only to get my Technician license, after getting on the air and seeing what radio was about, I went on to pass my CW (Morse Code) element and both General and Extra class licenses.  Originally licensed as KC8PDU through the FCC standard call system, I got on HF and during the 2002 ARRL SSB Sweepstakes, decided a shorter call would do better.  I applied for a vanity call and picked N8YP.  Amateur radio has so many different areas you can try, it is a lot of fun.  Over the last 11 years I have built project kits, operated during Field Day, built antennas, competed in fox hunts (hidden transmitter finding), talked via computer digitally both with RTTY and PSK-31, and recently talked on satellites.  There really is something for everyone.  This site will evolve and help me share some of the parts of radio that I enjoy.  Again welcome and glad you stopped by.
