Welcome to Western Reserve Yacht Club (W.R.Y.C.). Thank you for your interest. We hope to provide you a convenient, comfortable location, suitable to your needs.
Located on the Grand River, W.R.Y.C. is easily accessible via State Route 2 to State Route 283 (Painesville exit). A two minute drive to the north takes one to our Club, located in the village of Fairport Harbor, Ohio.
W.R.Y.C. is a member oriented facility, offering dockage in a manmade "slip" for boats under 25’ in length and dockage along the river for those 25’ and longer. We have docks for 100 boats serving pleasure and sportcraft alike. All docks have 30 amp power and city water provided at no additional cost.
The Clubhouse is open to members 24 hours a day, everyday of the year. It features a full service kitchen, large clubroom/barroom ideally suited for relaxing and socializing; highlighted by a large woodburning fireplace.
A large meeting/dining room (capacity 100 persons) is available for your private use. The building is complimented by two approximately 60’ outdoor covered decks and a large covered ground level patio. Full bath and shower facilities are within the clubhouse.
The facility is maintained by membership; it being purchased by us in June of 1999. Many events occur during the year to include a steak roast, clambake and luau - all events open to your family, friends and guests.
The club is within yards of bait & tackle stores (for the fisherman), beverage sales, deli, gourmet coffee shop and ladies salon. Within a few minutes drive are several restaurants, convenience, marine and hardware stores. We are about 20 minutes drive from the Great Lakes Mall, one of the largest malls in the country.
The Club is approximately a 20 - 25 minute ride down the Grand River to Lake Erie. Along this scenic route (watch for the Blue Herons!) one finds fuel docks, full service marine maintenance and pump-out available. Along the banks is located Pickle Bill’s Restaurant and its floating "Barge" Bistro. Within a very short walk from the public docks is located Brennan’s Fish House, Blazin’ Bill’s (ribs) and the Horseshoe Bar & Grill.
At the mouth of the river at the inner harbor is located Coast Guard Station Fairport; just to the east is Lake Metro Parks Fairport Beach with Sharkey’s Restaurant at its east end. To the west is the O.D.N.R.’s Headlands State Park.
By boat, the harbor is a comfortable two hour journey to Erieau, Ontario; 2-1/2 hour to Port Stanley, Ontario; 45 minutes to Cleveland Flats; 1 hour to Ashtabula Harbor; and 3 hours to the Erie Islands area.
We certainly appreciate your interest and look forward to serving you. Feel free to contact the Rear Commodore or his designate for more information. THANK YOU!
