Amateur
Radio
N8IA
Ham Radio has been a main part of nearly my entire adult
life. I was first licensed as a Novice in March 1970. My first
call was WN8GBK. In 1971, I upgraded to General and became
WB8GBK. In 1978, I upgraded again, this time to Advanced and I
became KB8GB. I finally upgraded to Extra, in 1980 and became
KG8W. As of October 5, 1998 I received my new call N8IA under the
FCC vanity program.
My interests in amateur radio have been in a number of
different areas over the years. I mainly enjoy CW on HF, and what
contesting I do, is almost exclusively CW. I also operate 144 MHz
FM, SSB, and CW, and 440 Mhz FM. I am trustee and part owner of
the SMART repeater system,
on 147.14 Mhz. My base station consists of an ICOM IC-735,
IC-3200A, and Kenwood TS-700A.
