I can only Imagine.......

 

 

Have you ever jabbed yourself in the hand with something like a pen or scissors, or a hammer?
Imagine the pain - of having railroad spikes driven into your wrists and feet…..with a sledge hammer.

Have you ever been stuck by a thorn from a rose bush?
 Imagine – A ring of 2 inch thorns placed on your head like a hat, and pressed into place with a lot of force…..

!

 

 

 

 Have you ever experienced that awful fear of the future? ..... of knowing that you have to tell someone something  that you dont want to admit to........
SUCH AS
 you cheated on them....... 
 you spent the rent money....... 
 you wrecked the car.......
 you were fired - again.....
 that someone you know and love is  dying.......
You were caught steeling....... 

Do you remember the fear you had - 

- just thinking about  saying those words????? 

 Remember how much you dreaded going home????.


Just Imagine Knowing - 
that in the next few days ….

You will be arrested - and one of your friends will be the one to turn you in.......
That you will be  whipped & beaten mercilessly ….
That you will have to carry a large stock of wood (picture trying to carry a railroad timber that is abou12" by 12" by 8 ' long- it weighs about 80lbs.) through town, and the townspeople will be lined up in the street to laugh at you, and spit on you, and...... 
That soldiers will be driving very large nails into your wrist's and feet…nailing you to that piece of lumber you carried through town...........
That you will have to hang there on that rough, splintery piece of wood, nearly naked, for what will seem like an eternity….….
That a very slow and painful death is imminent……..

Can you feel the agony, the fear, the pain?
Can you imagine what that was like?

    He did that for us, you know.
He saved us from a fate even worse than the one he suffered! 
He saved us from Perpetual Suffering,
  Would any your friends die for you?
Would a family member die that death for you? 
Could you do that for someone else?

He did!

  And  then came the big Surprise. 

  He didn't stay dead. Nope. Three  days later He got up and walked right out of that cave.
 Just walked away!  That sure had the local government and church leaders in a frenzy. They tried to spread the rumor that his buddies stole his body from the cave...  Some dude in white told his mother that He was gone..... but even his closest friends weren't sure what had happened  .... until he just showed up in their apartment later that week. Spooked the heck out of 'em too. They were fallin' down on their knees it shook them up so bad.

You've probably heard this story told many times before. 
 Preposterous?
Ridiculous?
Opiate of the masses you say?

 Think about this ........

How likely is it that this world is just one very large science experiment gone awry? 
What are the odds that all of this began as a large uncontrolled explosion? 
Is it possible to believe that we were once just microbes, that this all just HAPPENED without a guiding hand!?!........ 
Now that is a pretty fantastic concept.

Why do we find it so easy to believe in -

  • Ghosts

  • Lucky "Anythings"

  • Talking to the dead

  • The stars

  • Fate, Chance, Luck (good or bad)

  • Evil Spirits

  • Freaky Coincidence

- But we fail to believe in the One 
that is more consistent than anything else?  

When all else fails, read the instructions!   

 I have seen the positive results of prayer in my life too many times to pretend that it is just coincidence. God has saved my bacon way too often for me to think that I am just "Lucky".

   Jesus is real. God is alive. (Notice, I didn't say "was".) 
The Bible is real truth. The Bible has Answers!
 It is the "Instruction book" for this life.
