Use APRS and IGates to locate me

APRS (Amateur Packet Reporting System) is a system of loosely networked amateur radios all over the world.  They beacon their location and some can forward those beacons.  If my beacon reaches an IGate (Internet Gateway), my location will be viewable via the web.  Note that this system is not a commercial system and does not manage 99.9% uptime.

My car is running a Kenwood TH-D700 into a Larsen dual-band antenna with a Garmin GPS-35 to identify its location.  The Kenwood head is mounted at the top of the windshield in the tint strip and the base under the driver seat.  This leaves nothing but the Larsen antenna and the GPS antenna on the dash visible from outside.  It uses the station ID of N7LWO-7 and can be located by typing http://map.findu.com/n7wlo-7.

Although my boat, the Seaquestrian, has a Kenwood TS-B2000 which includes a TNC (like the TH-D700), the radio doesn't include the APRS software.  This means I currently run a TH-D7G to report its location.  Also, despite having an excellent GPS system on board, I enter the coordinates manually while underway and when arriving at my destinations.  This means my location is likely to be inaccurate when moving but does make approximations possible. It also means my range is limited.  It can be see by typing http://map.findu.com/n7wlo-8.

My motorcycle is a 1993 Honda ST-1100 ABS that has a few additions.  The primary addition for this purpose is a Garmin GPS-III+ which I use for accessing maps while driving.  After spending hours on some poorly marked backroads in southern Washington, it seemed like a reasonable idea.  I can tie this GPS directly into a Kenwood TH-D7G to have its position beaconed.  The bike also has a Yeasu FT-90 that I use for communications - mostly bike-to-bike or repeaters.  It also has a very good security system, in case anyone has any ideas.  When in use, it can be found with http://map.findu.com/n7wlo-9.

It is also possible to use a wildcard search to see if there are any other instances of my call sign.  I tend to use a different number for different purposes (contests, long trips, etc).  This screen also shows any messages that have been sent to or from these machines.  Take a look at http://map.findu.com/n7wlo*
