| Dusty is our 4 year old (born Jan. 31, 1994) umbrella cockatoo, hand-raised by my wife and myself.. We removed her from her parents when she was 2 ½ weeks old. Although she will carry on a complete conversation with you, she won't say anything in English. She babbles and mumbles, much like a young child. Although her biological mother still lives with us, Dusty does not care to spend time with her. Dusty's father became abusive a few months after she was born. (We decided he needed to hit the road! 1 weekend ad in the newspaper and he was history!) Dusty thinks she is a person, plain and simple. And you know what, we wouldn't have it any other way. |  |
