'98 Jeep Wrangler Sahara

98-JeepFront.jpg (24300 bytes) My latest Jeep, a '98 Wrangler Sahara.  It came with a few things that I really didn't need, but for the price, I could not turn it down.  The back seat & brackets, seat betls & brackets, and the rear carpeting were all removed during the first week.  The best thing about it is that there is now only room for one rider (usually my wife).  I put about 100 miles of off-road driving on it during the first couple of weeks I had it, and loved every foot of it!  Having drove my Cherokee over a lot of Arizona during the past 10 years, this was entirely different.   The short wheelbase and standard transmission makes it a lot of fun!

A couple of weeks after I got it I put some 30" x 9.5" tires on it.  A lot better than the stock tires, which are now sitting in the garage, waiting to go onto either the '89 or '95 Cherokees.  Next came a TeraFlex 2" supsension lift.   The clearance on the frame is much better now and articulation has greatly improved.

Without the rear seat sucking up a fair amount of space, there is plenty of room in the rear to make a good weekend of it.  I must admit that it will take a bit of doing to get use to leaving some of the equipment at home (compared to what we could carry in the Cherokee).  The tie down points on the floor make it easy for lacing the rear with bungie-cords.  Keeps everything from sliding around.
