About Me

A little about myself and the things I do with Amateur Radio.

I was introduced to Amateur radio by my father W6HDK,  (W6 Hot Dog Kid)  now a SK (Silent Key) I have always been impressed with the people he met and talked to on the radio. I was 16 when I first got my ham Ticket.     My first callsing was WD6ANM , at that time I was only allowed to work Morse Code (CW) which my father spent many nights teaching me. I learn to enjoy morse code very much, When I returned from overseas duty, I renewed my ham license, I was issued a new callsign KA6TDD,  still a novice class operator, Operating Morse Code.   Soon the FCC (Federal Communication Commission) Allowed Novice Class operators to communicate on 220 Mhz Band, which at most times was linked to a 2 meter repeater, which at that time was used by Technician class or higher radio operator, so that ment I had to identifiy myself on a 220 Mhz frequency.   I enjoyed the CW so much that I stayed a novice for 11 years. Soon my friends thatI talked to encouraged me to get my technician class ticket. I did some study's and took my test and got my N7LMV callsign in  Washington.   In 1995 I took my General Class exam and now hold my General class ticket. I work many different modes in the general area, Still mostly CW.  I have a reciprocal license for Mexico, so you will find me operating outside the United States BAND PLAN for the GENERAL class area. I will always use XE2\N7LMV when outside the general class band plan for the United States.

I work many modes of Ham Radio.. Many to choose from. I enjoy Morse Code the most, but work PSK31 , RTTY, Phone, Slow Scan Television, VHF Packet, HF Packet and a few other modes
