Packet I own and operate the Northern Rockies DX PacketCluster (GTFDX:N7CZ). The DX-Cluster is interfaced the DX-CENTRAL.COM for sending and receiving global DX spots.  You can log into the DX-CENTRAL.COM PacketCluster over the internet via TELNET by clicking HERE. After you have logged into CLUSTER.DX-CENTRAL.COM, you can use the talk command to talk with me or any other users connected to GTFDX:N7CZ. ( T N7CZ Hello, Bob ) Currently the cluster is in operation on 144.390MHz. To connect to the cluster simply C GTFDX or C N7CZ on 144.390MHz. GTFDX:N7CZ also beacons it APRS position every 30 minutes.

PacketCluster configuration:

  • 486/dx266 cpu
  • DRSI PCPA TNC (1200bps) (plans are to upgrade to 9600bps)
  • Radio Shack HTX-202 2M HT (6W) (144.390MHz)
  • Ringo Ranger II 10' over the roof of the house.
  • Pavillion PacketCluster® software V5.4-53
  • G8BPQ PacketSwitch for multi-RF ports if needed and NETROM compatibility
  • Internet connectivity is via 128k wireless modem operating on 2GHz

No one in my area uses the PacketCluster. I know guys that would kill to have a system such as this in their own back yard! Go figure!  This has lead me to considering selling the system. If you are interested in purchasing the entire PacketCluster system (less antennas/feedlines), or portions there of, drop me a note. n7cz@gtc-mhc.org   (DRSI card and PacketCluster software will remain a pair and will not include the any internet connectivity equipment)
