I Want To Bear Your Child
I've never felt the same,
My heart you have beguiled.
I want to take your name,
I want to bear your child.
I know you're not to blame.
It's mine alone, this wild
Desire to take your name
And wish to bear your child.
The moment that you came
Into my life, I smiled.
You've such a lovely name.
We'd make a handsome child.
But does it not seem lame,
A trifle juvenile,
This wish to take your name,
Desire to bear your child?
I shall not bring you shame;
You'll never be reviled
For lending me your name,
For leaving me with child.
The day that I became
Your lover I exiled
Myself from my own name,
Behaving like a child.
Someday I shall proclaim
My love for you. Meanwhile
I'll contemplate your name
And dream about our child.
Since this is all insane
I must be reconciled
To whispering your name,
And weeping like a child.
