Forty Two
This year, your birthday takes me by surprise,
The longer that I gaze into your eyes.
From my perspective, you are but a youth,
But one who has learned wisdom and great truth
Beyond her years. You’ve long been deep in thought,
Though my own computations come to naught.
And do you realize, at forty two,
The impact that the things you say and do
Can have on he who loves you from afar?
Forever you’re a bright and shining star.
You are the Answer, she who makes me sing,
My life, my universe, my everything.
