EIS Image Viewer

The EIS Image Viewer decodes and displays images taken by the onboard cameras of the satellites.

Each image has the date and time that the image was taken in the image header. This is used to calculate the Latitude and Longitude of the sub satellite point at the time the images was taken.

Menus
File
Save - Save the image in GIF format.
Quit - Quit viewing the image.
View
4:3 - Adjust size for a 4:3 aspect ratio.
1:1 - Adjust size for a 1:1 aspect ratio.
Tools
Image Tool - Display the image tool.

Image Tool

The Image Tool provides image processing techniques to try to improve the image.

Lighten the image.
The image is lightened by adding 16 to the RGB value of each pixel.

Darken the image.

The image is darkened by subtracting 16 from the RGB value of each pixel.

Rotate the image.

The image is rotated right by 90 degrees.

Contrast Stretch the image.

A histogram of the distribution of pixels for each gray scale value is displayed. You can select a range of values by clicking with the left mouse button for the lower value and right mouse button for the upper value and then getting themstreteched to cover the complete range.

Edge Enhance the image.

An edge detection algorithm is applied to the image and then the 2 images are added together to generate an edge enhanced image. The algorithm works on a 3x3 pixel matrix and the percentage value specifies the percentage weighting to give to the center pixel.
You can return to the original image by clicking on the Reset Image button.
