Mesquite Rodeo Parade
It is that time of year again. The Rodeo Parade will be on March 31, 2012. This year Mesquite will be celebrating its 125th Birthday and the parade should be larger. Also, the Fire Department is celebrating their 100th Birthday and the retired firefighters will be the Grand Marshals and there will be several more fire trucks (new and old) and hopefully the new Fire Corp Rehab Truck in the parade this year.

Therefore, I am going to need ham radio operators to work the parade. This is a fun event and a great way to give back to the city. It is ham radio operators responsibility to line up the parade and we have done an excellent job for many years.

If you are interested in helping with this event, please contact me at 972-222-3312 or email me at g.rice1301+gmail.com. Thanks, George Rice - KC5T00

WildRide! Bike Rally and 5K WildRun
It's that time again!! Saturday, May 19, 2012. The WildRide! Bike Rally and 5K WildRun! Against Cancer benefits the Methodist Richardson Cancer Center. For bicyclists, there are 20, 40 and 64 mile routes, the longest traveling over the Lavon Dam to Josephine, TX and back. The WildRun! 5k timed run will take runners and walkers through Richardson parks. Plans are being made for 2500 participants. Online info about the event is available at http://wildridebikerally.com

Ham radio operators are needed to provide communications from the rest areas on both the ride and the run. SAG operators with transferable radios (CRF-M)will be needed. Also, if any hams have vehicles that can be used for SAGs, let us know. APRS trackers (CRF-DA)are needs for all SAGs. For digital communication this year, we will try NBEMS over UHF so hams with laptop computers and a soundcard interface are needed for the rest stops.

Please volunteer by filling out the online form at http://www.tinyurl.com/8xnqzng or contacting Doug Kilgore KD5OUG at kd5oug+arrl.net or Ph 214-770-2394.
