Tube Testers
Eventually, if youre going to work on old glow-in-the-dark gear, you are
going to find a need for a tube tester. I spent lots of time
at my friend Bill's (K5LN) working on the old Hammarlunds and testing the
tubes on his tube tester. So when I ran across a couple of
old tube testers in need of repair I could resist the compulsion to buy
them, fix them up, and add them to my collection of STUFF YOU DONT REALLY
NEED BUT WANT ANYWAY. I especially enjoyed repairing the old
Precision tube tester. The original wood case was badly broken and
I got a chance to use my other hobby (woodworking) to restore its condition.
Here are some close ups:
Here is what the cases for the two testers look like. I
am really pleased with my restoration of the wood case for the Precision
Tester. As you can see, I have a lot of work still to restore
the NRI case.
