3.0.7 FUNCTIONAL CONTROL
MOTOR: The motor is a three phase brushless design that uses rare-earth
magnets and incorporates over temperature protection. It has an
incremental encoder with a resolution of 2000 lines/rev, which is used for
velocity and position feedback.
ENCODER: Bellows positioning is monitored via an optical encoder
which transmits 2,000 pulses per shaft revolution which is then multiplied
by 4 in the Galil card for a total resolution of 8,000 pulses per shaft
revolution. This information is routed to the motion controller board for
processing. This information is used to verify the bellows is moving the
correct distance for the requested flow rate. There are 8000 pulses per
turn of the lead-screw and 5 turns per inch of bellows travel.
