My Blog:

Ham radio is not very much fun any more since I have done just about everything I wanted. The hams around here said that " I just used the club I belonged to only for my experiments". You know I guess I did, built a three band repeater system from the ground up with 10 & 6 meter simplex links, then when that got old I installed a IC-706 HF rig good for 160 meters thru 6 meters as a remote base remotely controlled by (DTMF). (took a lot of work).

Built many interfaces to connect the radio to computer for many Hams around here  for Slow Scan Television . and ran the Nets. That was a lot of fun, but no one else would get involved enough to take the helm and run the net. (o' real hard job!).

Talked to the Space Shuttle many times when it came over my house and even worked the MIR station. Talked to a lot of advanced Hams on many  satellites all over the world, a lot of them on AO-13 before it came down. That was a real challenge setting up all the gear necessary to work a bird 40,000 Km away. ( $$$ ).

Set up a VHF / UHF / 6 Meter DX station on the flat side (horizontal polarization) and collected a ton of grid squares. (great fun).

Set up a Packet Radio Bulletin Board System connected to the back bone for world wide communication, (online for 15 years), (you better know computers if you try this one).

Set up a Amateur Television Repeater, Wow what a joke that turned into. ( nobody has a clue or willpower to even try something a magic as that. )

Set up and ran (did all the work) creating a Web Page for the club including the News Letters in "HTML" (hyper text markup language). (interesting and fun.)

So you can see I am kind of brunt out with trying to stir the pot down here and keep things going with Ham radio. ( maybe later ).

But for now I am involved with rehabbing properties and making a ton of money doing it, I'll soon retire and move to the hills then will I have enough time to play radio again, but for now, 73 Greg AKA: N4XQU

I hear you saying "How does he know how to do all that" A lot of research and a lot of persistence and I guess it does not hurt being a graduate of Devry in electronic communications school back in the 80's that changed my life for ever !.
