The hamfest was a rousing success.  We hope all of you could attend and get to renew old acquaintances.  Our N4WIS table was quite popular and, I believe we managed to hand out several membership applications.  Check back to see who the new members might be!

SPECIAL EVENT STATION HISTORIC SHIP "ISLA EBUSITANA" LAUNCHED 1856

A group of Radio operators from district "EA5" will be on the air from September  20th to 29th  2006 , with the Special Call " E G 5 I E G/MM " and working on board the schooner "ISLA EBUSITANA."

This vessel is 150 years old and sailing for Mediterranean Sea these days.

                  The port base is Cartagena (Spain).

                  The QSO will be confirmed with a Special Card.

                  The Radio operators will work in CW/SSB mode,
                  only with 100 Watts and Vertical Wire antenna,
                  please be patience and understanding.

Associazione Radioamatori Marinai Italiani celebrate deactivation of "ARDITO" and "AUDACE"

The Italian Navy has given the permission to activate twin Guided Missile Destroyers "ARDITO" and "AUDACE" to celebrate the ceremony of the last haul down of the combat flags, due to the end of duty of these ships.

The ceremony will take place on 9/29 but operations will start on 9/28 and will stop on 10/1.

The operators of the two teams are composed in part of former components of the crew, some ex radio officers and all are members of the A.R.M.I. (Associazione Radioamatori Marinai Italiani i.e. Association of Italian  Sailors  Amateur-Radio).

More info about the event on QRZ.com at the call sign II1ARD and II1ARU. A special QSL for any contact and an Award will be sent to all that work both calls. We will work CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31, on any band where  propagation is open. If no interference will occur, two station per ship will be active.
