Battery Box in Vehicle:
This battery box with deep cycle battery is behind the
driver's seat. It can also be moved to a park bench if need be.
The black and red wire comes from a socket in the back which supplies
power to charge the battery while the engine runs.
This battery allows the FT-857D (installed vehicle radio) to work
off of clean DC power while the engine is running. I no longer
hear the alternator whine.
Installed are Power Pole connectors with cigarette lighter socket.
40 Watt Dummy Load:
I needed a QRP - 50 Ohm 40 Watt dummy load.
I found this article from CQ February 2003 "A Dummy Load
for Just Pennies" by Irwin Math *WA2NDM.
I actually had from my junk box 20 - 1K Ohm resistors, some perf
board and a coax connector with a bit of coax in it!
I covered it with heat shrink. Works just fine.
