On The Air

I mostly have to operate from my truck ( I have a new Nissan 2012 Frontier ) or
away from my home QTH, too much QRN from within the apartment complex.

State Parks Activated:
October 12,2010:
My first adventure was at Honeymoon Island State Park. Getting there early I forgot to bring bug spray. A passing hiker saved the day by providing some much needed bug spray. The setup for the W5GI antenna was accomplished by lashing my 40 foot push-up pole to a palm. The vehicle was parked under a shade tree and I operated from inside my RAV-4. Honeymoon Island is also part of IOTA NA-034, and US Islands FL017S

Little Manatee River State Park: .Feb 07 2012 .................................................... Sep 19 2013

At this campground I have started to use my K3 with the Amp and tuner by Elecraft.
You can see the setup picture on the Radio Room page.

On November 2, 2010:
Egmont Key State Park and Preserve USFL004 became my first backpack trip using my converted child carrier which holds my rig and stuff. Take a look at the Egmont Key QSL Card.
Egmont Key is part of the IOTA NA-034, and US Islands FL014S, also included ARLHS USA 269 Lighthouse.

County-City Parks Activated:

Jan. 05,2011:
The weather was warm in the low 70's with a breeze. I went to
Fort De Soto Park, which is on Mullet Key listed as IOTA NA-034, and US Islands FL132S. It is a county park in Pinellas county. History and other info listed here. I set up the station on a picnic table and used my IC-7000 and my Mosley mobile antenna on a tri-pod.
