'Ham'...

Hi...
I received my Technician license
in
January 2002... (KG4RDU)...
For
the moment I'm content to remain a Technician,
but
I figure in about a year I'll learn code
and
upgrade to General...
Once I get my General, I foresee
this hobby
getting a bit expensive with
TWO
'Hams' in the family...
Some day I hope to have my OWN
'Ham station'...
My
husband of almost 3 years,
W9LBW,
Loren,
got
me interested in the hobby...
He's
been a 'Ham' since '94...
Loren
and I met on the internet,
in a
'chat room'... He lived in Florida,
and
I in California... I flew to Florida
to meet
him and we hit it off...
He moved
to California shortly after that
and
we stayed there nearly 3 years,
until
I was able to take an early retirement...
Then
we moved back to his/our home in Florida...
I applied
for a vanity Call in February,
and was
granted my first choice in April...
I like
the 1 by 3 format, so I looked up
all the
'ism' suffixes and applied for about 9
that
were available... And, why, you may ask,
did I
choose 'ism'?... Ism is my 'chat' name...
I've
been an 'ism' of some sort since
I first
got online in '98...
(Wow,
I just thought of a new 'ism' name...
ism_the_ham)...
giggles...
The only
radio 'of my own' that I have
(right
now) is my mobile Alinco DR-605 TQ
dual
bander (2m and 70cm)
with
a Diamond NR770 antenna...
We got
this particular radio because
of its
cross-band repeater capability...
We like
to go for wilderness bike rides
and
this radio will help us keep in touch,
especially
in the event of an emergency...
At
home I use my hubby's ADI AT-600
dual
band HT, connected to a Comet
tri-band
Omni GP15 at 55 feet...
With
this set-up we're able to keep in touch
throughout
the day (he's a truck driver
and
drives locally)...
God bless...
