I'm Dee Turner, N4GD

 

and I am running for Section Manager of the West Central Florida Section.

I retired from the USAF in Oct. 1991 after over 21 years of communications experience. During my career I have held positions as Chief Trainer/Ground Radio Repairmen on the Joint Airborne Communications Center/Command Post and was responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the Joint Airborne Communications Center/Command Post. Primary responsibility was to ensure quality maintenance performance on communications central and all associated radio equipment. Also responsible for; acting as an operational support crew member during airborne operations; performance of radio operator/maintenance duties on the ground; overseeing all aspects of the training program for the detachment, while maintaining an uncompromising standard of excellence. Position required extensive travel, flexibility, technological expertise and abilities.

Missile Radio Superintendent - Responsibilities included: provision of Major Command management of Titan II an Minuteman radio systems valued at $100 million; provision of Major Command guidance to over 150 radio maintenance personnel in seven communication squadrons; determined and managed radio manpower requirements; preparation and review of communications systems directives applicable to SAC's ICBM wings; Interfacing with HQ AFCC, HQ SAC, 3901st Strategic Missile Evaluation Squadron and Air Logistics Centers to ensure successful operation of these systems in meeting national objectives. Position required: coordination with CS managers on matters pertinent to logistics support; staff assistance visits to CS Quality Control facilities and other work centers to ensure standardization and to resolve management and maintenance problems. Also required: representing the directorate at HQ SAC conferences regarding new systems acquisition; and excellent personnel management and coordination skills

Communications Systems Manager - Responsibilities included performance of detailed advanced engineering required to install, repair, and relocate cryptographic, high-speed data communications, and other communications systems supporting the Unites States Air Force in Europe, other military and Department of Defense activities, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Tasks included: conducting site surveys; determination of host facility support requirements; selection and ordering of materiel to support cryptographic equipment installations, and the preparation of detailed installation instructions and test plans. Position required working closely with installers, computer operators, and maintainers to troubleshoot defective systems and correct equipment, engineering and installation problems. Also required usual personnel management obligations, including: supervision, training, discipline and scheduling for a team of 6 engineers; as well as fiscal responsibilities involving: planning, implementation, budgeting and complying with fiscal constraints, pertaining to $3.5 million in civil engineering work.
