Welcome to the Haywood County ARES webpage!

A.R.E.S. is the Amateur Radio Emergency Service, which is a field organization of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).

When the need arises, ARES provides emergency communication services, free of charge, to local government officials and various other agencies.  The communications that the Haywood County ARES provides is a backup service, and is only deployed in the event that public service communications cease to function or become unstable.  We are continually looking for new members!  Any licensed amateur radio operator may join ARES free of charge.  The only cost is the amount of time you are willing to donate to public service.

You may join this group by contacting Tim Glance, W4WTF.  Tim presently serves as the Emergency Coordinator and can be contacted at (828) 246-2437 or [email protected]

This is a group dedicated to provide good faith and community service in the event of a minor or major disaster.

The presently appointed officers are:

  Emergency Coordinator,  W4WTF
  Asst. Emergency Coordinator,  "vacant position"
