Who is N4DD? Well, since you asked.... My name is Dennis Brickey. My friends call me Dennis (and other interesting things ranging from animal species to other, more colorful, adjectives). I was first licensed as a ham in 1989, at a time when I needed something other than life to dwell upon. I credit amateur radio for saving what is left of my sanity.
My first callsign was KC4IIS. It was a zippy callsign, so I kept it until the vanity callsign program of 1996. I applied for and was granted the callsign N4DD. Call it N4 Dirty Dog, Dumb Dennis, Daffy Duck, or anything else you like, but don't bother calling on SSB. If you want to talk with me, you gotta speak the language... CW IS !!!
CW contesting is my first love. I don't claim to be a proficient contester but I do claim to have a ton of fun! My favorite contest operations are QRP mountaintop cw contests. I like to travel to remote mountain sights with radio, battery, and antenna and go for it!! What is QRP? QRP means "Reduce Power" and is understood by low power operators to imply operating with from 1 to 5 watts of output power. I haven't yet graduated to QRPp (less than one watt).
Click HERE I am currently attempting to build a Single Op 2 Radio station (SO2R). Its going to take lots of time - something which I have less and less of these days. I'll try to keep things updated as I learn.
