A little bit about myself...
I live
in the southeast corner of Tennessee in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.
I am self employed with a home based business. Age is 30 and I've
been a licensed 'ham' since I was 12. My XYL has her Tech + license
and encourages my enjoyment in ham radio! (Am I lucky or what?)
My station is still under construction since I recently moved.
My tower is up and antennas are appearing in the skyline. I
now have a tri-band 2 element
quad at 68 feet and a 7 element 6 meter yagi at 50 feet.
(I never really finish antenna construction. There is always something
that needs changing / improving.) I also have an inverted-L
with elevated radials for 160 meters. This antenna sure plays
well for how simple it is. 80 meters... a plain old dipole at 70
feet seems to work well. 40 meters was enjoyed with
a 2 element yagi at 70 feet at the previous QTH but so far I have a dipole
up about 30 feet. That one definitely needs to be changed.
Several beverages will
be run through the woods for low band reception. Inside the shack
is nothing glorious either. An Icom
756 is the main attraction. CW is the preferred mode. Contesting
and DXing account for most of my contacts. Always pursuing QSL cards
and wallpaper.
Other hobbies of interest include guns, computers, RC planes, rappelling
and just enjoying the great outdoors in general.
Curious
about my home business?
Take a quick look!
How about
a list of on-the-air Trader
Nets! They are a great place to sell/buy used ham gear.
