Local Maps

I have created a few maps for APRSdos. These maps are local to York County PA. However, they do extend a few miles south into Maryland to approximately Hampstead, east into Lancaster County, and west to Gettysburg in Adams County. Be forwarned however that I cannot guarantee the accuracy of these maps. The maps were generated from USGS data from the internet. I had to use Mapfix to get many of the 3.3 mile maps down to 3000 points. So don't blame me if some roads were straightened or are missing. Most maps are lacking in labels and if anyone wants to find the coordinates for labels in their area I will gladly update the distribution as time permits.

There are two sets of maps, payorxx.zip and payrkxx.zip.
The payor distribution contains 1.25 mile maps and the appropriate maplist - maplist.yor.
Download payor03.zip 688 KB
The payrk distribution contains 3.3 mile maps and 3 special event maps and 2 maplists - maplist.yrk and maplist.wlk
Download payrk02.zip 317 KB
Maplist.wlk is basicly the same as maplist.yrk but with the addition of three event maps, MSwalk in York, Walkamerica in York, and Crop Walk in Hanover.
You also need the EASTMAPS distribution by Bob Bruninga, because of the way my maplists are done.

The event courses are also available for WinAPRS in the form of vectors. Download eventsyrkxx.zip extract and copy the three .txt files to the labels directory and click reload.

To install the map distribution change directory to your APRS directory (cd aprs) and use pkunzip with the new and directory switches and the complete path name of the zip file. Assuming that the zip file is on a floppy disk in drive A the command would be:
pkunzip -dn a:\payrk02.zip or
pkunzip -dn a:\payor03.zip
To use the maps you must load the appropriate maplist using Maps-Configuration-Change maplist. ex.:
M-C-C-yor to load the maplist.yor

As I stated earlier all maplists require the EASTMAPS distribution to be present. All three of my maplists contain the 3.3 mile maps. Maplist.yor has more maps then the allowable 180, therefor if a map does not work it may simply be commented out. You would need to edit the maplist to remove the * in front of the appropiate map. You should then comment out another unneeded map to prevent the 180 map limit from being exceeded. Of the 200 or so maps in these distributions, I am aware that half a dozen or so will not work until I find the time to work on them. If you have trouble or need unavaible maps, let me know. Otherwise they may not be finished for a very long time, until I need them personally, which may never happen. Enjoy!
