About Me:
02/67
Born in Lancaster
County Pennsylvania to my parents, Joe & Gale Smith. I was a wonderful
child growing up. My
brother
Ritchie was the evil one. I have 4, Ritchie (28), Nathan (22), EJ {step-brother}(22),
and Jeremy
{half-brother}(12).
I also have 2 sisters, Corrie {half-sister}(14) and Caroline {half-sister}who
is 10 years old. Yep,
that's right
there is a gap. My youngest sister is 21 years younger than me, and only
5 years older than my own son Nickolaus.
06/86
Graduated from
Manheim Central High School in Manheim, Pennsylvania and entered the military.
Spent 4 years in the military, finally getting out in July of 1990. Not
bad duty though... I was stationed at the United
States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado in the fire
department. I really miss that place.
ABOUT MY SON & wIFE
My Family (The Most Important Thing To Me)
My son Nickolaus and my lovely wife Jessica have always been the world to me ever since I fell in love with Jessie at our
local high school in Manheim, Pennsylvania, home of the Manheim Central Barons, which has one of the top rated
football teams in the state!!
My wife and I always sat close to each other in homeroom. We accidentally started going out together in September of
1995 and I jumped up between her and another girl and me and her held hands... Well what do you say, the rest is
history, although we did stop seeing each other for a time, until I came out of the military and we knew that we were for
each other.
My son Nickolaus is my most precious thing I have. He was born a Valentines Baby in 1993, almost 6 weeks premature
but was a blessing from the time I first saw him. He is pretty active for a 5 year old, already playing his first season of
soccer. He enjoys all sports, and I think that he might turn out to be the next BO JACKSON, as he picks up sports very
quickly. But he is a typical 5 year old and we do have our share of parental/child daily conflicts that arise from a child that
is mischievous.
Stuff I enjoy
Amateur Radio
I have been a registered amateur radio operator since January 3, 1995, holding the Federal Communications
Commission License Amateur Radio License N3UED. Right now I only hold the Technician license, but when life settles
down and isn't so crazy I would like to move on to higher class licenses. Since I have become a "HAM", I have meet
many interesting and new people, even a few of them that are brave enough to call me FRIEND. One of my good
friends, KF3Y, Andy and I meet at a Ham Radio Meeting in 1995 and enjoying having him as a friend ever since. I am a
member of the Lancaster Radio Transmitting Society where I am currently club treasurer, and in the past have been
affiliated with the Red Rose Repeater Association and the Lebanon Valley Amateur Repeater Club.
Volunteer Firefighter
I am a member of the Hope Fire Engine & Hose Company, #1 , Manheim Pennsylvania, and the Florin Fire Company in
Mount Joy Pennsylvania. I have been a member of both fire companies since 1985, although I am not very active with
the Florin Fire Company. In the Hope Fire Engine & Hose Company #1 (better known as Manheim Fire Company) I
have held positions including Firefighter, Driver, Captain, Company Secretary, and Company Assistant Secretary, and
have organized the fire company's annual Halloween Parade for 3 years, as well as helping with the various events, such
as our Annual Truck Give-Away, Carnival, and Bingo, among other events.
Computer Enthusiast
I have been around computers since 1981, when I first received a Commodore 64 system for a Christmas gift from my
father and step-mother. I have since owned different computer systems and wish that 3 years ago I didn't give my first
Commodore 64 system to my siblings... Ahhhh... They got rid of the computer. Anyway after I had the Commie, I had a
Tandy 1000 286 computer which was very slow. In 1992 I moved up to a (getting faster) Packard Bell 486 SX-25 with
4 megs of ram. I thought that I was hot stuff then, until I moved up recently in February 1998 to a lighting fast Hewlett
Packard Pavilion 266MHZ monster machine.
