  • Log should have a specified format as to what should and should not be included (see separate list "Daily Written Log Specifications".
  • Logs should eventually be edited and prepared for inclusion on web site or publications for final presentation.
  • Logs may also be taken by audio, but audio must be transcribed within 48 hours of first recording.
  • Group logs may be written for presentational purposes.
  • If computer logged, files should be stored on diskette, uploaded to website as soon as feasibly possible, and be saved with files name formats as described below.
  • Computer log names/files should always follow the specified format as described herewith:

jsf                                      1.     Start with the 3 letter initials (jsf) of the log author

jsf2000                             2.     Add the full 4 digit year (2000); followed by a dash/hyphen (-)

jsf2000-0509                   3.     Next, attach the 2 digit month (i.e. 05 for May); followed by the digit day (i.e. 09 for the

9th)

                                            4.     Additional & revised logging

jsf2000-0509-a                        a.     If more than one log is written in one day, a specified character shall follow

the above
items #1 thru #3. First place a dash/hyphen after the months and days.
The dash/hyphen  should be followed by a letter (beginning with "a") which
                                                            indicates it sequence (a, b, c, d.......x, y, z).

jsf2000-0509_rev or               b.    If a revision is made to any existing log, it must be marked at the end by an
jsf2000-0509-a_rev                        and the letters "rev" (see examples). After either the month-day digits or the

underscore sequence letter (as described in #4a).

jsf2000-0509_rev.doc     5.   The last piece of the file name is the file type extension. This is mostly automatic on

newer operating systems, however must be checked and done correctly. It is important
mainly for file transfers between different programs. Some of the typical file extensions

are:

                                                                        Msword .doc
                                            Word Perfect .wpd
                                            Standard Text .txt
                                            Hypertext .htm or html
