I enjoy 23 cm Moonbounce operation very much.
My station is relatively small, but I can regularly make contacts with any station of my same EIRP or more.
I can even work some on SSB!
My current setup consists of the following homebrew equipment:
3m (10') stressed dish with scalar ring feed
FHX35LG preamp followed by MGF1302 (0.4 dB NF including relay)
500 W (400 W at the feed) from a couple of watercooled GI7B's
Ground-cold sky: 6 dB (using microwave absorber in front of the feed; can't lower dish below 3 degrees)
Sun noise: 11 - 13 dB, depending on sun flux
