My location was a long-time favorite rover site in my home gridsquare of FN22. The antenna was at 1950 feet above sea level (about 300 feet higher than the highest village in my county) with a downward slope in all directions, plus there was no foliage in the immediate area. The wx was 41 degrees, wind gusts to 25 mph, and rain. There was no receiver desensitivity from commercial radio installations this time, despite struggling with it in the past from this same location. It appears that switching from the 706mk2g to the IC-7000 has made that problem go away.
There was no band enhancement of any kind here. On a couple contacts, the QSB sounded more like a 6m slow fade. I collected 31 QSOs and 15 grids. These are both up from 2007 (had coax problem in 2008). The activity level was higher than expected for the spring version of the 2m sprint.
Here is a list of stations I heard but was unable to work: N8RA FN31lu, W1QK FN31, WA3NUF, N3ALN, N2SPI, and WA8TJL EN91el. I didn't hear anything out of FN02, FN11, FN13, FN24, FN30, FN41, FN42, FN43, or FN44. Results are here.
