Sponsor: The Clifton, NJ Office of Emergency Management sponsors this amateur radio repeater system.

History: Our repeater has been on the air since 1979 and is presently coordinated as KB2N/R by METROCOR. The heart of the system is a Spectrum Communications repeater, model SCR-1000 with Autopatch and DTMF control. The repeater and antenna system is located within Clifton’s secure city government complex. The system is also integrated within the city’s own emergency power system. This system has proven very reliable and very capable.

Usage: This repeater is an "open" system serving the local amateur radio community.

The repeater system becomes the primary communications system serving Clifton’s OEM Communications Team, as necessary to support OEM exercises or OEM activation. At the announced conclusion of the emergency activation or exercise, the repeater returns to "open" availability to the amateur radio community.

Autopatch and DTMF control is reserved exclusively for use by members of the OEM Communications Team.

Trustees: Rick Jackson, KB2N & Joe Sammartino, N2QOJ

Any apparent operational problem may be reported immediately to 973-778-3211.

Charter Members: K3GDX, KC2EWA, N2SDB, NX2Q, WX2KEN, N2QMJ, K1MH, N2HQE, Captain Kenneth Snagusky of CFD and Coordinator, Clifton Office of Emergency Management

Repeater Etiquette and Rules

All accepted practices of VHF/UHF Amateur Radio repeater operation are to be followed. For any licensed amateur radio operator who wishes a detailed description of repeater operation and etiquette, a request may be made to [email protected].

All malicious interference is to be ignored and not acknowledged on the repeater, but immediately reported to trustees with TOD (time of day) and description.

Note: Repeater usage is monitored and computer recorded 24 hours a day.

The recording of all repeater activity, including DTMF decode, is performed primarily because the repeater system is sponsored by a government agency. Therefore, any use or operation of the repeater not consistent with FCC amateur radio regulations, or that is detrimental to the execution of authorized OEM activity, will be considered a serious offense and dealt with via the FCC and City law enforcement.

Amateur Radio stations are expected to refrain from using the repeater system while it is activated for the communications support of the OEM Communications Team.
