My Computer Network

My local cable television company,
Comcast, has provided my Internet service via a DOCSIS a cable modem
connected to the @HOME backbone,
branded as Comcast@HOME, since
August 2001. Previously, Adelphia Cable
provided my Internet connection through their service call
PowerLink, which I first connected
to in May 1997.
I have a Local Area Network (LAN) in my home. It consists of a Motorola SB4100
DOCSIS cable modem, a Linksys BEFW11S4 cable/dsl router with 4 port switch, and
3 computers. The Linksys router provides Network Address Translation (NAT) to
provide Internet access to multiple computers on my network and also provides
firewall protection from outside intrusions from the Internet.
