About Amateur Radio

Amateur radio operators are involved all over the world. We spend most of our free time talking to each other and learning from each other. Most of all we are there when we are needed during a disaster such as a Hurricane, Fires, Earthquakes, Floods and when you have no power we are prepared to communicate with our battery operated radios that work off of car batteries.
We also help to communicate for events like the NYC Marathon and other events from state to state.

This hobby is lots of fun and I have meet a lot of great people that have mentored me on this great hobby and I have done the same to other's and that is what great about this hobby we are a big family.

If you are interested on becoming a Amateur Radio Operator let me tell you that you do not need to learn Morse Code, it's no longer required.

All you need to do is pass technician test that is I think is 35 multiple choice question and it's easy.

Little About Me

My ham radio interests has changed over the last couple of years.

I been involved in Building Packet Network in the Bronx and New York City and Queens area Maintaining and still running the KB2VLX BBS in the Bronx and the KC2COJ BBS in far Rockaway Queens..

Each BBS is supported by a 8 link comm port running at terminal speed of 19200 and radio speed of 9600 backbone links user ports are 1200 baud rate. Each system is full blown BBS handling
numerous amounts of mail daily 24 hours 7 days a week.

I mainly spend most of my time working which takes up most of my hobby but as a true trooper i still find time to enjoy my Hobby.
