Internally, the car is a piece of trash. There is a motor with a cheap sensor sweep, which is used to turn the front wheel. The drive motor is cheap, but is quite fast and burns lots of current at 6 volts. The RC receiver is OK but not great, as it uses cheap 2N3904 NPN transistors to switch the motors. Those transistors are only rated for 800 mW heat dissapation WITH A HEATSINK. 2N2222 get very hot switching the motors, but the 2N3904s are relatively cool. There is also a battery pack (located in the bottom) for four(4) AA batteries.
Rip out the RC board carefully; ditch it and the remote. This is what you need to build the robot:

Alright! Got those things? If you are a veteran to soldering, use this schematic to make your board. If not, buy a RS IC board(PN ) that has pads for one IC(it may have two boards, but they are not separate). Break that board in half(where it is supposed to be of course!). Then make your board look like this with a dremel tool. Solder all the components on like this. Wire the wires on as shown on the board picture. Hot-melt glue the switches in place so they don't fall off when the car hits an object with some speed. Attach the switches to the board as shown. Now for the infamous 'smoke test'. Take the pic out, check voltages at 4, 5, and 14. Then turn off the car. Plug the pic into its socket. Turn on the car. The car should move forward until it hits an object. Then it will perform evasive maneuvers. :)
