Welcome to the web pages of Ervin
Farkas!
This project is more of an attempt to define questions than to give answers.
It is a short presentation about me and my family: our past and present, our
believes, the search for the meaning of our life, work and hobbies.
Thank you for popping in!
Hope you have a good time. |
OK, let's get started. This would be me, the site owner, an electronics
technician specialized in consumer electronics, married, have one cute little
daughter. Also have lots
of hobbies like radio amateurism, classical music, and multimedia
applications, especially web design and digital audio/video. Oh, and have I
mentioned computers and photography?
Born as a Hungarian in Transylvania and living in the United
States, half bald, wearing reading glasses and a beard that used to be
less... white. Oh well, life is good and I'd be happy to tell you
more. |

I have always been fascinated by communications. I still remember the day
when I put together my first "communications device". I took two empty
plastic medicine bottles, cut off the bottom, so the bottles became tubes. I
taped a thin piece of plastic to cover one end, then connected the two
bottles together with some kind of wire. Then I handed one bottle to my
sister, and after stretching the wire, we started talking one at a time,
into the bottle. With a short delay the voice could be heard in the other
bottle... It was so exciting...

I was born in communist Romania back in 1959. Don't rush to call me a Romanian
though... I am actually Hungarian. As you may know, the western part of Romania,
under the name of Transylvania, used to be part of Hungary, so even today, there
is a population of a couple of million Hungarians in Romania.
