In order to improve, we must set goals for improvement and expansion.
Our goals include the following:
1) Keep all audio paths properly adjusted.
This assures that the audio is the highest quality attainable over the entire system.
At a minimum, we REQUIRE proper receiver de-emphasis and transmitter pre-emphasis
to ensure a flat audio response from 400 to 3000 hz.
No overdriven, tinny, or mega-bass audio allowed.
Also, input and output audio levels must be set properly. Repeater audio should track
evenly; 3 kHz in=3 kHz out, and limited at 4.2 kHz (plus .6 kHz PL dev.)
2) Incorporate PL encode/decoder boards on all Repeaters
To alleviate the problem of having multiple repeater tails and IDers show up on the system.
Although not absolutely necessary on a 2 meter repeater, we require
the use of PL link signalling on all 440 Mhz repeaters.
This also benefits the end user by allowing use of PL decode on a dual-band
radio to allow instantaneous Transmit to receive turn-around time when cross-band
repeating to a portable radio. Please advise the control-ops if you plan to cross-band
for more than one hour. Also, use of PL decode on your radio is a MUST while cross-band repeating..
3) Expand Coverage Area
We can always use additional coverage area.
We are currently looking to expand or improve service in the following areas:
Great Bend - Newton - Marion - Wichita
