Equipment used for AM BCB DX is a Realistic STA-90 AM/FM/FM Stereo receiver with a Worcester Electronics Space Magnet 2 amplified ferrite rod antenna, or a General Electric Superadio III with a built-in ferrite rod antenna. For SW DX, a Sangean ATS-803A portable receiver with an MFJ-956 antenna tuner driving an MFJ-1778 G5RV antenna is used.

690 KOAQ Terrytown, NE-8/15 0400 noted with legal ID mentioning Scottsbluff, into Oldies. Frequent "AM 690 KOAQ" IDs. Fair to poor with WTIX, with KSTL off. First Nebraska station noted from outside metro Omaha.

740 KBOE Oskaloosa, IA-8/15 0435 noted with morning show promo, call letters and country music. Fair to poor in KRMG null with splash from WSB-750. Simulcasts KBOE-FM, 104.9 MHz.

760 KTLK Thornton, CO-9/26 0403 noted with sports talk show promo (hosted by two ex-Denver Broncos players), "760 K-Talk" ID, local ads, into talk on General Motors cars. Fair to poor with WJR nulled.

770 WYRV Cedar Bluff, VA-9/26 0201 noted with USA Radio News, network ads, "Solid Gospel 770 WYRV Cedar Bluff, Virginia" legal ID, into Southern Gospel music. Good to poor with WABC nulled. This is listed as a 5,000-watt daytimer...were they testing, or did someone forget to turn off the transmitter?

790 KXXX Colby, KS-9/15 2233 noted with local ads, "K-Triple-X" IDs and country music. Fair to poor through WMC and WWKY.

940 WECO Wartburg, TN-8/15 0518 noted with calls, Southern Gospel music and local ads. Fair to poor through WMIX/KXTK/XEQ. Last heard on a DX Test in October 1983.

980 WONE Dayton, OH-9/16 0152 noted with "AM 980 WONE and AM 1340" IDs, ABC Adult Standards, legal ID at 0200 into ABC News. Fair over WYFN, others. Simulcast on WIZE-1340 Springfield, OH.

990 WNOX Knoxville, TN-9/29 0404 noted with local ads, weather, "News/Talk 990 WNOX Knoxville" legal ID, local PSA, into "America In The Morning". Fair to poor with others in CBW null. Verified from Georgia in 1989 as WIVK.

1130 KFAN Minneapolis, MN-9/26 0323 noted with "KFAN" jingle and sports talk. Fair to poor with KWKH, ACI from local KMOX-1120. Last heard in 1983 as WDGY.

1190 KLUV Dallas, TX-8/15 0245 noted with "The Mighty 1190 K-Love AM" IDs, Oldies (1950s-60s), Imus promo, legal ID at 0300. Good to poor over WOWO in KPHN null. This is the same music the old KLIF played on this frequency in the 1950s and 1960s.

1200 WTLA North Syracuse, NY-8/15 0433 noted with "Unforgettable Radio, WTLA 1200 AM and WSGO 1440 AM" IDs, ABC Adult Standards, local ads. Good to poor over WLXX, with WOAI off. This station simulcasts WSGO-1440 Oswego, NY, and is programmed from WTLB-1310 Utica, NY.

1240 KWOS Jefferson City, MO-8/15 0600 noted with legal ID mentioning the Zimmer Radio Group, into CBS News. Heard atop mess for two minutes. Zimmer also owns KLIK-950 in Jefferson City, along with KTGR-1580 in Columbia.

1250 KKGM Kansas City, KS-9/30 0421 noted with University of Missouri football promo, "1250 The Game" ID, into sports news. Good to fair over WEMP. Call change, formerly WREN, which may be assigned to 1660.

1510 KMRF Marshfield, MO-9/19 1628 noted with Southern Gospel music and New Life Evangelistic Center promo. Fair and alone on channel. Simulcasts KNLM-91.9 MHz in Marshfield, part of the New Life Network.

1560 WQEW New York, NY-9/16 0119 noted with "Radio Disney, the station where kids love to win" slogan, into pre-teen programming. Fair over WPAD. This is the same service carried on semi-local WSDZ-1260 Belleville, IL.

1680 WTTM Trenton, NJ-9/16 0222 noted with ESPN sports news and talk, Penn State football promo, "1680 AM, the home of ESPN" IDs. Good to fair in WJNZ null, WTIR off due to Hurricane Dennis.

Emergency Broadcasts-Hurricane Floyd

690 WOKV Jacksonville, FL-9/15 0352 noted with reports on Hurricane Floyd, legal ID at 0400 into CBS News. Good to fair, obliterating 18-watt KSTL.

750 WSB Atlanta, GA-9/16 0135 noted with local weather from meteorologist Kirk Mellish (Melhuish), into coverage of Hurricane Floyd from CNN. Good signal.

1110 WBT Charlotte, NC-9/15 2113 noted with talk and information on Hurricane Floyd as it approached the NC coast. They were on 50 kW ND emergency pattern at the time. Good signal at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with ACI from KMOX-1120, even better at the home QTH.
