The ebay description:
I bought this off a old mountain man that lived most of his life around Alaska, he told me that it was used up till the early 1900 hundreds.

This key wasn't made until 1918 and probably used as a key for awhile, I would think it was modified sometime after 1930.

My tests so far:
The yoke and base are all that has been reused. The tubular device tests as a capacator with an ohm meter and DC doesn't activate anything. The circuit straps are still on the bottom but are not used. Looking through my junk pile to find a 6 or 12V AC transformer.
